Major drug bust in Melville

In recent months, Melville RCMP have been looking into the concerns brought forward by the citizens of Melville and surrounding area regarding suspected drug activity in the area.  Investigation into drug related activities in Melville have had yielded the following successes:

Drug BustDuring the evening of August 13th, 2013, the Melville/Ituna Detachments conducted a traffic stop in Melville, Saskatchewan where approximately ½ pound of marihuana and $1100.00 was seized.

Tyson Wayne BLAHEY (B: 80/12/13) of Yorkton, SK has been charged with the following in relation to the traffic Stop:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Under 3kg, Section 5(2) CDSA;
  •  Possession of Cannabis Over 30 grams, Section 5(1)CDSA ;
  • Obstruct Police, Section 129 (a) CC,
  • Drive while Suspended 140(1) TSA.
  • Blahey has been remanded in custody for his next court appearance on Monday August 19th, 2013 at Melville.

Also, from the evening of August 13, 2013  into the morning of August 14, 2013, a search warrant was executed on a residence and associated vehicles in the 200 block of Prince Edward Street in Melville, Saskatchewan.  A search of the residence uncovered approximately 3 and ½ pounds of marihuana and over $25,000.00 were seized from the residence.   An associated vehicle and recreational trailer were also searched resulting in the seizure of 14 pounds of marihuana were seized along with $2000.00 in cash.  The vehicle was also seized as proceeds of crime.  The following three individuals were charged in relation to the search:

1) Damien Gerard EASTMAN (B: 1980/05/15) of Melville, SK

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Under 3kg, Section 5(2) CDSA;
  • Possession of Cannabis Over 30 grams, Section 5(1) CDSA;
  • Richmond has been remanded in custody for his next court appearance on Monday August 19th, 2013 at Melville.

2) Lisa Marie ROBINSON (B: 1974/06/29) of Melville, SK

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Under 3kg, Section 5(2) CDSA;
  • Possession of Cannabis Over 30 grams, Section 5(1) CDSA;
  • ROBINSON has been released for a court appearance in Melville on September 23, 2013.

3) Scott RICHMOND (B: 1974/03/17) of Invermere, BC

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking over 3kg, Section 5(2) CDSA;
  • Possession of Cannabis Over 30 grams, Section 4(1) CDSA.
  • Richmond has been remanded in custody for his next court appearance on Monday August 19, 2013 at Melville.

The investigation is ongoing and there may be other charges pending after consultation with the crown prosecutor.
